Certificate of Compliance on General Labor Standards and Occupational Safety and Health Standards from DOLE
Lorenzo Shipping Corporation (LSC) recently received the Certificate of Compliance (COC) on General Labor Standards and Occupational Safety and Health Standards on 18 September 2014 from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at the Ichikawa Hall, Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) Complex, Diliman, Quezon City. The Labor Laws Compliance System (LLCS), embodied under Department Order 131-13, is a reform program of the DOLE that aims to build a culture of voluntary compliance and to strengthen industrial peace and harmony in the country. DOLE Secretary Baldoz said that what makes the LLCS more acceptable and effective is that it is tripartite, involving workers and employers who the government brings together to foster common understanding of the benefits of complying with all labor laws and OSH standards.
LSC was certified compliant with General Labor Standards and Occupational Safety and Health Standards pursuant to a Joint Assessment conducted 30 April 2014. The certificate is valid for two (2) years. LSC, a containerized liner service linkseleven major ports in the Philippines, namely, Manila, Batangas, Bacolod, Cebu, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Tagoloan, Cotabato, Davao, General Santos, and Zamboanga. Cargoes are moved using international standard dry containers and other specialized container types requiring special carriage. LSC operates seven full-container vessels that are ISM (International Safety Management) certified and are classed by the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).
